In December 2018, EU sugar import volumes - all types - were down 40% from a year ago, totaling 124,275 t.
This sharp drop is essentially due to a drop in the amount of raws for refining being shipped during December 2018.
Overall and since the beginning of the 2018-19, EU sugar imports are up 1.7% with South Africa, Swaziland and Brazil being the Top 3 exporters of sugar to the region.
