EU white sugar prices [ex-mill basis] are up 5 EUR/t from a month ago, averaging 319 EUR/t in April 2019.
Despite this "limited" recovery i) domestic white sugar prices on the spot market are reportedly much higher and ii) contractual white sugar prices currently negotiated for the upcoming 2019/20 season are likely to bounce back above the 400 EUR/t mark.
It is therefore only a matter of time before EU white sugar prices can recover to more decent levels for EU sugar producers.
In this perspective and based on our understanding of contractual terms generally negotiated between sugar producers and users, we anticipate a first substantial price recovery for EU white sugar prices in September 2019 / October 2019.
