At the end of June 2019, EU sugar exports totaled 1,530,081 ttq: down 47% from the same period a year ago. This sharp decrease was essentially due to a drop in exports originating from Belgium (-492 kt), France (-366 kt), Poland (-114 kt), Germany (-108 kt) and the Netherlands (-102 kt).
- Israel (316 kt) and Egypt (239 kt) remained the preferred destinations for European sugar although volumes shipped to Egypt are down 37% (-140 kt) from the same time a year ago ;
- The top 10 export destinations account for 2/3 of the total volume exported so far (against 59% at the same time a year ago).
